It’s most definitely Monday

Well, it’s better than last Monday, at any rate. LAST Monday night I ended up in the ER, so pretty much anything is better than that.

I got up at my normal time, took Maverick to daycare, did my morning journaling and then went to tell the Bear I was heading up to get a shower and get ready for class at 12:30, but first, what would he like for lunch?  He rejected tuna salad as “too squishy” so off I went to the little grocery store for cold cuts. Also known as “lunch meat” or “cold meat” depending on where you’re from. (The first time I said “cold cuts,” the Bear looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language) (That happened a lot) (Which leads me to the next thing)

(I may digress but there’s usually a reason)

Tormorrow is Fasnacht day.  And what, you may ask, is that? The first year I was here for Lent, Bear asked if I was going for Fasnachts and I asked if I needed a vaccination and if there was a cure. Yes, I’m a smartass.

Fasnachts are amazing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasnacht_(doughnut)

While I was at the little grocery store getting cold cuts, I noticed the pile of freshly baked fasnachts and yep, 6 of those little cuties came home with me. I should not be trusted around things like that.

I also got a carob, peanut butter bone for Maverick. Don’t tell him, he’s being a shit and not getting it till later. (Not eating real food, as usual0

And then the fun began. I had class, then the chiropractor, then a meeting. Faculty meetings are always fun but this one actually ended on time. Off to the vet to pick up a scrip for Maverick, then to Walmart to fill it, Petco for a meat roll so I can hide his meds inside the chunks, Hobby Lobby for fabric – caved and bought yarn for a sweater for the soon to arrive newest great grandson. Stopped at CVS, the library, and the beer store. (Snow is predicted, beer is necessary)

And then I went to get Maverick.

I think I’ve done enough for today but nope, I will be working on a training plan after supper and trying to practice “back up” and “circle left and right” with him if he ever manages to eat his darned supper.

Someday maybe I’ll slow down. It won’t be today. Also, pray for the nasty shit to go North, I’m not really interested in snow tomorrow!

  3. I have never heard of an adult saying Tuna is “To squishy’. That’s funny.

  4. My little neck of the woods got, according to my ability to “eyeball” it without stepping outside, a good 6″ and perhaps a little more. But the sun is now shining with daytime temps to be above freezing for the next 10 days, so it will be gone soon. I don’t abhor snow like you do, but I don’t like feeling stuck in piles and drifts of snow, so I am wishing this will be our ‘biggest’ snow for the season and that Phil didn’t lie about an early spring!

I have found a beignet in New Orleans to be very similar to our Fasnacht and I’m not overly fond of a piece of dense dough deep-fried. If I stumble upon a real one on Fat Tuesday, I’ll consume it more for the tradition than the enjoyment.

It sounds like your ICS is improving. I will be glad to vicariously enjoy a cup of coffee for you – just say the word!

    • I’m actually attempting a second cup of coffee today – so far no problems! We get Fasnachts from the little grocery store that has a group of Amish ladies make them each year. Sooooo good. Once a year, then I’ve had enough

      • I just had someone mention that to help cut the acid from drinks especially coffee, she adds about a quarter teaspoon of baking soda and because she uses a flavored creamer, she doesn’t notice it in her coffee. She said she keeps thinking about moving up to half teaspoon so she can drink more coffee, but keeps forgetting.

      • I can’t drink the flavored creamer- I just look at those and gain weight! This Prelief stuff seems to work pretty well!

We are due a little bit of snow on Friday when it will be in the mid to lower 30’s, it’s too warm tomorrow the rain will be just that rain.

I really hate days where I am busy the whole day, just never seem to catch up.

I was thinking about your dog not eating and I remembered someone said something about Ruff Greens, it’s a vitamin and supplement you put on top of their food and the seem to love the stuff and it stimulates their appetite. I’ve heard rave reviews on it. You can look it up on the net, they offer a free sample to try. Couldn’t hurt? I do a lot of reading and listenting lol.

I didn’t know what fasnachts were so I looked it up : is a fried doughnut of German origin in Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine. They look pretty good :). In my neck of the woods we have a lot of kolaches. We have an area called, by all the local residents, Czech village. The bakery there makes some of the most delicious pastries, the kolach is my favorite!

    • I love how there are so many different cultures in our country and we normally all live happily together.
I looked into that Ruff Greens and discovered it’s one of those subscription desks that are a royal pain to cancel. Stories abound of people getting shipments and billed for it after they’ve tried to cancel several times. But thank you, I always appreciate advice
