*please excuse any typos, I’ve managed to grow my nails long for the first time in years and i’d forgotten how difficult it makes it to type. (It’s worth it)
So Maverick got over his hot spot finally. The Bear has recovered from his surgery and has been puttering about the house while waiting for the next one -he has a leaky valve that will be repaired in a few months, after the first procedure is totally healed. I’m puttering about doing my usual stuff and grumbling about it at every opportunity.
I developed a lovely rash while I was on vacation, finally went to the doctor and got some cream for it. Dear Lord, when they prescribe these creams do they not look at the patient? I am not a little woman, that tube is not gonna last for long! It is helping but I’m still itching and it’s in a place that people look at you funny if you scratch in public. Geesh. Speaking of, at the last board meeting the gentleman in front of me gave me quite the view of his butt crack. Guys, pull up your damned pants!
My reading has slowed down a bit. I just finished Shatter Me, quite a nice young adult novel which is not my norm but one tries to diversify! I also purchased two books by an author named Jennifer Carr, I never heard of her till I read a random post on Threads about how she was put on a “do not read” list because she said that one should be allowed to attend some convention even if a “problematic” author was going to be there. And then last night I ran across another author suffering the same fate because she dared to enjoy Harry Potter. (I’m about to reread those books because the stuff people are saying is stuff I just don’t remember) (For those who don’t know, this is because J.K. Rowling dared to say that a guy wearing a dress is still a guy)
Yesterday was our ladies afternoon of crafting and snacks. Only two of the four could make it but it was still fun, sometimes it’s nice to just have a couple of us together, we get a bit closer to each other that way, I think. We had cheese and cracker – Club brand has a sweet Hawaiian cracker that’s really quite tasty1 And chips and mini cream puffs and mozarella sticks, laughs and good conversation.
Today was BJ’s – as I was putting stuff in the trunk (and by the way, I bought another book. Apparently I’m incorrigible) (But at least it wasn’t yarn!) I thought, “what is hitting me?” Oh, duh, those are called raindrops. Unexpected deluge. Good times. This was after the deluge we had a couple of weeks ago, during which I got stranded at my neighbor’s house. My driveway goes down one hill, up another and in the valley is a creek. The creek overflowed and the driveway was under a good bit of water. I would have chanced it but the Bear told me to go to J’s, so I spent an hour chatting with her.
Last week she asked me to take her to a doctor appointment, and that turned into a lunch date, which became an entire afternoon out. She’s 90 years old. If she wants to go to lunch, we’re going to lunch. So we went to the Gettysburger Company, which is – duh – in Gettysburg. If you live anywhere near there, GO! They have amazing burgers. We were totally stuffed, laughed, talked, played with the baby at the next table – there is something magical about watching a 90 year old and a 7 month old interact.
Since then, my hips have been increasingly difficult. Chronic pain is something no one but those of us who endure it really understands. My pain level on a good day is a 3 or 4. Doesn’t sound that bad, right? It’s not the pain level, really, it’s that it doesn’t stop. Those rare pain free moments can make me cry with relief. So I put out a message to my family doctor and he sent a referral to a different specialist than the one I’ve been seeing, I love her but I didn’t feel like she heard me the last two times I saw her. So it’s time to get a new set of eyes on this spine of mine.
In other news, apparently good genes are racist. Dear Jebus!
I’m sorry about all your pain. Have you been tested for EDS? My son has all the time back pain as well, sitting, standing, makes no difference, tho he’d rather stand to do things when he can. He was able to find a chair that helps his back not hurt so much when he sits, some kind of ergonomic thing.
Glad that your husband is doing better, but sorry he has to go through another procedure.
I also try to support those that others make a public fuss about because of a particular view. The former CIA Operations Officer I listen to on Apple Podcasts (The Wright Report) knows all about that. He’s worth a listen.
Is the rash a yeast infection? You can use an over the counter vaginal yeast infection cream on anywhere you get a yeast infection on your skin.
LOL I understand about trading one buying spree for another. I keep saying I’m not buying any more spinning fiber, but not only did I buy one last month (picture will be on my blog probably Tuesday) but I’m buying a skein of yarn every month now too sigh, so much for not gonna do that habit thing :P.

I have degenerative disc disease and gluteal tendinitis – the pain typically manifests in the hips. Heat and Deep Blue cream help. I’m hoping the new specialist can offer something -we’ll – new!
The rash is a fungal – I’ll be using Gold Bond for a few days I guess!
I’m on a mission to finish projects and not buying fabric or yarn! But I can’t resist books!

Well at least books can go everywhere you do without much to carry, and you can read them no matter how little time you have!
My daughter also has a degenerative disk disease. She just went in for a steroid shot this last week, I told her they weren’t really good for her, but it’s what her insurance will pay for until it doesn’t work, then she can have another cadaver bone put in. This will be her 3rd one. Having that surgery will then put pressure on the one below and then that one will break down. I told her maybe they should just put a rod down her spine to keep less pressure on it. My family genetics suck, but my parents and grand parents were great :P.

I’ve had the steroid shots and the last round made everything worse. I’m wondering about aqua therapy or acupuncture or just some really good drugs! I remind myself thst hurt doesn’t mean harm and relax – but it’s exhausting, honestly

Your son has EDS? Guys don’t usually realize they have it. He must be truly miserable. ☹️

He is, he’s in pain most of the time, he just pushes through. We noticed it in middle school but they didn’t know much if anything about it then, we just knew he had issues with pain in his knees in PE when he had to run etc. He use to knit but had to quit because of the pain it caused in his wrists. My sister has it almost as bad as he does, I lucked out mine is minimal.

Does he have dysautonomia or MCAS as well?

I’m so sorry. I wish I knew of something that might help. Have you tried voodoo? 😂

I had thought of sticking pins in the back of a doll but then, that’s what the doctor did – stuck needles in me! So, maybe not a good plan?

You have to do it while burning the right herbs and chanting the correct words. 😆

I hear you about book shopping. I am rarely tempted by yarn since so much of my knitting is booth samples. I am well covered in the yarn department. Needles, however, are a different story. But I digress. I book shop quite regularly with only a tiny twinge of guilt. I do at least read them. 😉

I admit to loving shopping for crafting stuff- ooohhh, look! A new tool! I do use it all and often have something that the Bear needs.
I read at least an hour every day so I tend to plow through books – and this do not feel guilty about buying more. I probably should, but I don’t 😂

My dear, sweet aunt had chronic back pain for years. She walked a few miles almost every day until she couldn’t. I hope you get some relief.
I’m listening to Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. The audiobook was available before the digital and I’m only 40% through it. I’m really liking it but won’t recommend it to my book club. Too many F-bombs. The narrator is great!
I’ve been dealing with the itchies, too, in places not to be scratched in public. This has been going off and on for at least six years. The $$$ cream works but then the itching comes back.
Butt crack exposure (BCE) can be avoided if one buys the correct style and size of pants, invests in some heavy-duty suspenders, and wears a longer shirt. Obviously those suffering from BCE don’t know or care.

I’m trying to get my walking routine back because it helps me mentally as much as physically. My BFF read that book and I believe she enjoyed it too.
This is an under boob itch so I’ve been tucking a paper towel under there to absorb the moisture. Such fun!
The best part of the Butt crack guy – and I shall be using BCE syndrome now – is that he’s one of the candidates for school board. My dear Bear wants to make signs that say “would you vote for this ass?” With the picture I took on them. I’ve managed to convince him we shouldn’t. But not till I laughed and laughed

When we went on a two-week motorcycle trip to Newfoundland with three other couples, they gifted us with a container of Anti-Monkey Butt powder to help keep our backsides cool and dry. I use it under the boob in the summer for the same relief. It works but not as effective.
I hope your rash clears up soon.

I’ve seen that stuff! I never heard that term monkey butt till I moved here – first time I mowed the fields, Bear asked if I had monkey butt and I howled

wonder if corn starch would help with the moisture under there?
